INSTALLATION
This is a general guide on how to install the Safety Halo exclusion zone lighting system by Incident Zero. This is a general guide only, and installation should only be carried out by qualified personnel. The specific requirements will change depending on the usage, the lighting type, and the machine.
The Safety Halo™ system is easy to install and is typically sold as a kit with lights, no-drill mounting brackets, and a junction box which doubles as a surge protector, ensuring clean power delivery for longevity. Power runs to the junction box, creating your power source, and lights connect via Deutsch plugs. Brackets attach using 3M VHB Construction adhesive, forming a durable bond without needing engineering approvals whilst avoiding drilling or welding on the machine. Surface prep with rubbing alcohol ensures strong adhesion, and after curing, lights can be attached and adjusted to set exclusion zones, completing the installation.
1. | Clean the area with alcohol in preparation for the adhesive brackets. Ensure the entire surface area is completely free of dust and grease. |
2. | Remove the adhesive backing from the back of the mounting bracket, and attach it to the desired location. Press down firmly to ensure you adequately activate and cure the 3M adhesive. Check all edges are fully adhered to the surface, ensuring no dust or water can enter. |
3. | Mount the light using the nuts and washers provided. A liquid thread locker, such as Loctite ® can be used to further secure the nuts if required, to avoid the loosening of the nuts in high vibration environments. |
4. | Repeat the process for all lights and brackets. |
5. | Remove the adhesive backing from the junction box and attach to the desired location. Press firmly to adequately activate the 3M adhesive. |
6. | Using an appropriate power source, connect the input cables of the junction box. Ensure you thoroughly read the specifications for the lights you’ve purchased. |
7. | Connect the installed lights to the junction box utilising the Deutsch connectors provided. |
8. | Ensure all cables are secured and freed from potential damage. |
9. | Adjust the lights to meet your specific exclusion zone requirements. Tighten the adjustment screws on the end of the lights. |
